The treatment of wrinkles and discoloration of the face and body, small capillaries and veins of the face and legs, visible veins around the eyes and enlarged veins of the lips, unwanted body and facial hair, and post-surgical or traumatic scars can all be achieved with the versatile Nordlys laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) energy system by Candela. Resurfacing treatments with Morpheus8 and Fractora are used by Dr. Forley to treat superficial and deep levels of the skin with a precise delivery system of radiofrequency energy to improve skin tone, wrinkles, scars, and surface texture.
The Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) that is unique to the Nordlys system enables the treatment of a broad range of frequently encountered skin disorders using intense pulsed light (IPL) energy. Precise energy pulses are used to deliver only those wavelengths beneficial to the treatment of brown pigmentation and red vascular skin conditions such as rosacea. The targeted sites of skin discoloration are “energized” by the pulsed heat, causing them to lighten and dissipate usually within 1-3 monthly sessions. A series of SWT treatments can also be used for clearance of unwanted facial or body hair in a more efficient and less uncomfortable process than that of other energy devices.
The red blood cells in veins and capillaries are the target for the Nordlys Nd:YAG laser energy. The heat is transmitted to the lining of the vessel wall surrounding the red blood cells resulting in collapse of the vessel thereby stopping any blood flow. Without blood flow, the treated vessel disappears. Facial capillaries and thread veins, superficial veins around the eye, venous lakes of the lip, and spider veins on the legs respond extremely well to this treatment.
Advanced non-ablative laser treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and scars is delivered with the FRAX 1550 applicator. The outer layer of skin remains intact with this type of laser to speed the healing process and minimize the downtime. It can be combined with the SWT treatment of sun spots to rejuvenate both the color and texture of the skin during the same session.
The multiple treatment possibilities with the Nordlys system all share a high level of efficacy with a treatment experience that is comfortable, safe, and fast.
Morpheus8 is an innovative device that uses microneedles which sequentially penetrate to varying depths within and below the skin to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy that is effective in stimulating new collagen formation, smoothing wrinkles, tightening skin, and remodeling fat. In addition, acne scars can be diminished by the collagen stimulating properties of Morpheus8. Tiny punctures are delivered at customizable depths in a “fractionated” or grid-like pattern by a handheld device. Upon penetration of the skin to the desired depth, the microneedles immediately deliver a controlled level of heat that is customized to the needs of each patient by Dr. Forley. A variety of Morpheus8 treatment tips enables the energy to be delivered safely and effectively to the face, eyelids, brow, lips, and neck. Treatment consists of 3-6 sessions at monthly intervals. It is safe for all skin types due to the ability to adjust the depth and intensity of the heat delivery to the skin. Dr. Forley uses topical numbing cream, selective nerve blocks with local anesthesia, and the patient controlled Pro-Nox inhalational nitrous/oxygen gas system to decrease any discomfort or anxiety associated with the treatment. Bruising and swelling are usually minimal in the face and neck but can sometimes be present for a few days in the delicate area around the eyes. Aftercare consists of applying a thin layer of silicone gel for a few days which helps to rapidly decrease any redness and improve dryness following the procedure.

Surgery produces excellent results in the treatment of skin laxity and skin redundancy that is part of the aging process. However, qualitative changes in the skin that alter the structural integrity of collagen and elastic fibers are not improved by surgical procedures such as facelifts and eyelid lifts. Lasers are light based treatments that deliver energy at specific wavelengths that are absorbed by water in the skin. This process results in cell turnover and collagen production that enhances skin quality with improved tone, pore and wrinkle reduction, and lightening of age spots. Lasers complement rather than compete with the results of surgery.
Lasers and IPL devices can reverse or improve damage to the skin that results from excessive sun exposure combined with the aging process. However, the treatment will be less effective when more severe sun damage is present and many more sessions may be required to achieve the desired result. It is best to always practice sun protection measures and avoid excessive UV exposure.
The modern generation of non-ablative, fractionated lasers has revolutionized the safety and recovery from light based treatments while delivering excellent results. Non-ablative lasers penetrate the outermost layer of skin cells to deliver their energy to the deeper layers of the epidermis and dermis. Since you are not left with a raw skin surface, downtime consists of mild to moderate redness and swelling for a day or two with some dryness and skin flaking depending on the intensity of the treatment. Although ablative lasers are still indicated for more severely affected skin, most patients will respond well to the non-ablative approach and prefer the minimal downtime and minimal risk of these devices.
Lasers are indicated for treating wrinkles, improving skin tone and texture, diminishing skin discoloration, and reducing visible veins and capillaries. Non-surgical skin tightening is most effectively achieved with radiofrequency energy devices like FaceTite, BodyTite, Accutite, Morpheus8, and Evoke. A focused ultrasound procedure like Ultherapy or a suture lift can also be utilized to lift and tighten the face and neck without surgery.
The advanced technology of the non-ablative FRAX 1550 laser that Dr. Forley uses is very effective at treating the skin without producing an unwanted change in pigmentation. This was frequently a problem with the older generation of ablative CO2 lasers which are no longer being used.
Annual guide to the top 5% of New York City Physicians.
Doctors are selected from ballots sent to over 18,000 New York City physicians. Identifies those doctors held in highest regard by their peers. Dr. Forley has been listed annually since 2008.
The authoritative guide to finding highly qualified physicians throughout the New York region. Doctors are selected based on nominations by their peers and reviewed by Castle Connolly’s physician-directed research team.
UK-based Tatler discussed Dr. Forley in its 2008 Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery Guide as one of the "A-list of cosmetic surgeons"..."who are at the top of their game"...and whose "innovations are shaping the art of cosmetic surgery around the world." It was noted that Dr. Forley’s "discreet Upper East Side clinic is perfect for women and men in search of minimally invasive natural-looking surgery.
Julia Reed writes that Dr. Forley, "disarms me by asking what I might like to have done. Nothing, I say, sure that I mean it. And then he shows me before and after books of tiny little neck lifts, subtle browlifts involving tiny little incisions well hidden within the hairline. In ten years, he assures me, I’ll be thinking about it. I actually like him. And I fear he may be right."
